Media Statement PARKTOWN – On 20 October 2024, an intelligence-driven operation by the Vala Umgodi team in Rietvallei, Kagiso, led to the arrest of two suspects, aged 27 and 49, for illegal mining activities, enhancing community safety and security. Mining equipment including generators phendukas, iron balls, chains, motors, spades, extension cords, stumper pots, stumper rods, wheelbarrows, plastic bowls, hammer, seven blasting cartridges, three detonating cords, one replica gun, magazine and ammunitions were seized during the operation. The arrested suspects will appear before Kagiso Magistrates’ Court soon. Ends
