CHRIS HANI DISTRICT – Police members’ continued efforts to prevent and detect crime yielded positive results within Chris Hani District when they conducted Operation Shanela last night 21 June 2024. Members attached to the Police Stations within the Chris Hani District take up space in the fight against crime in their respective policing precinct by conducting vehicle check points (VCP), high visibility on hotspot areas and managed to arrest more than fifteen suspects aged between 30 and 48. During their tour of duty they were doing stop and search and also checking non-compliance on liquor outlets and arrested suspects on crimes ranging from dealing in drugs, possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, possession of two (2) pellet guns, selling of liquor without license and possession of drugs. Police also stopped and searched vehicles with the assistance of the Traffics at Indwe area where fines to the value of R2000-00 were issued to the motorists that break traffic laws. Dangerous weapons were confiscated during the operations to prevent any criminal activities. These suspects are due to appear at different Magistrate courts on Monday, 24 June 2024. The Chris Hani District Commissioner Major General Rudolph Adolph thanked all foot soldiers on the ground in ensuring that our community members feel safe and secure. Ends
