Media Statement CAPE TOWN – Continuous efforts by Operation Restore (Shanela) to combat the lucrative drug trade, paid off when two suspects were arrested for dealing in dagga in two separate incidents. On Saturday, 27 April 204, members conducted a search and seizure operation after information was received about drugs at two separate premises in the Harare area. The members immediately operationalised the information, and in DB58 Ncumo Informal Settlement, Harare they searched the premises and confiscated 39 sachets dagga, one big parcel dagga and a scale. A 37-year-old male was arrested on a charge of dealing in dagga. The dagga and scale were handed in at Harare SAPS as exhibits. At 19:45 the members arrested a 48-year-old female on a charge of dealing in dagga when her premises in Fudumel Street, Harare was searched and three plastic bags of dagga were found and confiscated. Both suspects are expected to appear at the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 29 April 2024 on the mentioned charges.
