Media Statement CHRIS HANI DISTRICT – In support of the Eastern Cape Government’s Back to School Outreach Programme, Ntabethemba SAPS engaged with learners of Ikhwezi High School and the entire community of Ntabethemba in Chris Hani District on Tuesday, 21 January 2025. The integrated initiative aimed at promoting education and heighten learners’ and parents’ level of awareness on safer learning environments. A number of issues relating to school safety were deliberated upon as part of the program of the day. The event was attended by a number of stakeholders, inclusive of Community Policing Forum (CPF), South African National Parks (SANParks), Department of Education, Department of Health, Spiritual Crime Prevention and other community structures, who rendered messages of support and pledged their support in playing their part in ensuring positive upbringing of children and maintaining safer learning environments. Chris Hani District Commissioner, Major General Rudolph Adolph, viewed the initiative as an effective mechanism to shape society positively. “Positive upbringing and safeguarding of children is a collective responsibility, and an effective mechanism to positively shape our communities. If we can instil and maintain morals through these kinds of initiatives in our communities, we can bear positive and impactful results in the fight against crime. Community education still forms part of our strategies in ensuring safer communities,” he said. Major General Adolph also appreciated the support received by the different stakeholders from various corners of Chris Hani District.” As the SAPS Management, we are delighted to witness collectiveness in the fight against crime. With this kind of integration, we can effectively fight crime and maintain order and harmony in every sphere of society,” he concluded. Ends
