Media Statement KIMBERLEY – The Provincial Commissioner of the Northern Cape, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola accompanied by the Acting Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Corporate Services, Maj Gen Thabo Mphuthi, handed over medical equipment, care packs and reading material to patients in the Oncology Department at the Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe Hospital (RMSH) in Kimberley on 12 March 2024. The donations are proceeds from the SAPS 10km Pink and Blue Walk in aid of cancer awareness that was held on Wednesday, 08 November 2023 in Kimberley. The walk was hosted in conjunction with the SAPS Women’s Network, Men for Change, the Department of Health, the Community Police Forum, the Department of Transport Safety and Liaison, Department of Correctional Services, the SANDF and the Provincial SAPS Management, Provincial Components and Stations within the greater Kimberley area. The purpose of the day was relayed by Major General Mphuthi, who expressed her utmost gratitude to all the role-players. Lieutenant General Otola commended the hospital for the sterling job they are doing serving the community with excellent medical care. The Acting CEO of the RMSH, Dr Esme Olivier during her address praised the SAPS and other relevant stakeholders for their generosity. The SAPS Women’s Network distributed treats to patients and staff at the Oncology Wards. The Head of the Oncology Department, Dr Daniel Osei Fofie delivered the vote of thanks and commended all who contributed towards the donations. Ends
