KIMBERLEY – The Northern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, joined by management including Major General Thabo Mphuthi, Major General Jacques Raymond, the District Commissioner for Frances Baard Major General Charlotte Makgari, Senior managers, representatives from CRC church, Metropolitan and McDonald’s celebrated “Casual Day” at Boitumelo Special School for children with special needs in Phuthanang Galeshewe on Friday, 06 September 2024. Learners were joined by residents from the Yonder Centre. The day that was celebrated as a sports day under the theme “I SEE YOU”, and was supported by Metropolitan, Mc Donalds, CRC Church acknowledging strides made by persons living with disabilities. The stakeholders in their message of support encouraged the children to be courageous like David in the bible. Teams from Boitumelo and Yonder competed in the sports day and were presented with medals for their participation, sponsored by Metropolitan. Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola in her address mentioned that the day is about recognising the natural worth, dignity and uniqueness of us all, she said that we need to see the challenges, the potential, the people for what and who they are. Raising awareness to support persons with disabilities and bringing together communities, business and people to champion accessibility and inclusivity. The General thanked all sponsors and SAPS components who contributed towards making the day a success and ensuring that each child receives a school jersey and a Mc Donalds Happy meal sponsored by Mc Donalds. Participants were entertained by the SAPS Provincial Band. Ends
