Blom makes shock return to PSL with Stellenbosch move
Stellenbosch FC have confirmed the signing of Bafana Bafana midfielder Njabulo Blom on a season-long loan from Indonesian Super League side Borneo Samarinda.
The deal was completed before Monday’s transfer deadline, with the 26-year-old already in Stellenbosch and set to spend the remainder of the season with the Maroons.
Blom, who has two Bafana Bafana caps, says he is relishing the opportunity to return to competitive football in a new environment.
“I’m excited to be here, and to start this journey in a new environment,” Blom said.
“I’m looking forward to the challenge and building relationships with my new teammates. I will do my best to help the team and see what we can achieve together.”
The midfielder believes Stellenbosch is the right place for him to rediscover his best form.
“Stellenbosch is a professional and well-run club, and players who have played here in the past have enjoyed success, so I felt that it was a good environment for me to grow and to play competitive football again,” he added.
Blom also welcomed the chance to work under coach Gavin Hunt.
“I know coach Gavin demands a lot from his players and that will also help me improve and get back to my best.”
The midfielder returns to South Africa after previous spells with Kaizer Chiefs and MLS side St. Louis City.
He will wear No. 35 at Stellenbosch and could make his debut against former club Chiefs when the sides meet in the league on 17 October 2026.
