Media Statement WESTERN CAPE – Dedicated police officers continue with their quest to eradicate the distribution of drugs and the possession of prohibited firearms when they detained two suspects in isolated incidents. Police members who formed part of an integrated intelligence operation acted on information on Friday, 11 October 2024, indicating a delivery which was destined for an address in Jones Street, Oudtshoorn. They stayed in close proximity of the address until the delivery vehicle arrived. The members saw a suspicious person collecting the parcel, later found to be methamphetamine with an estimated street value of R92 750. They then closed the net, arresting the Nigerian foreign national for dealing in drugs. In an unrelated intervention Grabouw police followed up on information that three unknown males were in possession of firearms on Saturday, 12 October 2024. The members proceeded to the identified area where they saw the suspicious vehicle on a nearby farm. The members searched the occupant and found a 9mm Norinco pistol with ammunition hidden under the seat. The 31-year-old male was not in possession of a valid license to be in possession of the mentioned firearm and therefore detained for the unlawful possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.
