Millions of people are made miserable through indigestion and heartburn. Problems arising from continuous digestive can be as a result of bad food choices, overeating or something more serious. Thankfully, you can actually experience relief through simple changes you make in the foods you consume on a quotidian basis.

There are numerous number of foods that trigger indigestion or heartburn by basically relaxing the muscles at the end of your esophagus, so the stomach acid can’t be kept out. You, however, need to be well informed about these foods in order to ensure good health and total wellness. In this article, you will learn about the consumables, which are tagged the “superfoods”, and why you should inculcate the habit of including them in your meal regularly.

Indigestion and heartburn can be greatly avoided or lessened by avoiding spicy foods with chili powder or pepper, raw onions and garlic, citrus foods like grapefruit, oranges and tomatoes, fatty or fried foods, alcohol or any consumable that has anything with caffeine, such as coffee, soft drinks, or tea.

Ensure that you get a large amount of fiber from a variety of non-citrus fruits, vegetables, and whole grains in order to minimize acid reflux and enhance overall healthy digestion.

Use low-fat methods when cooking, and drink enough fluids that will aid your body in absorbing essential nutrients. Before bedtime or after dinner, try as much as possible to drink herbal chamomile—it is believed to have a calming effect on the stomach.

Indigestion and heartburn can also be decreased if you eat smaller rations of meals, but of course, frequently. Calm and relaxed atmosphere is great for the consumption of snacks or meals, so eat in environments with little of noise or distractions. Don’t lie down instantly after eating a meal, or wear properly fitting clothing that isn’t tight in abdominal and waist area.

Oatmeal is low in cholesterol and saturated fat, it’s also high on fiber, thus, it’s best you make it your morning meal. Also, it gives you a calcium-charged boost to your day when combined with skim milk. You will be adding some extra potassium or iron into the mix for a well-balanced meal by adding blueberries or raisins.

If you want a lean protein source packed with lots of nutrients that will make your stomach feel good, you definitely can’t beat turkey. Turkey helps in lowering cholesterol levels in the blood because it’s high in niacin.

Another source of low-fat protein is chicken without the skin. Both are easy to cook either outdoor or indoor.

Likewise, grapes and apples have low level of sodium, cholesterol and saturated fat, and are great non-citrus fruit choice for fiber and vitamin C.
