KIMBERLEY- The police in Niewoudtville arrested four suspects aged between 26 and 61 for possession of suspected stolen property in a farming area in Niewoudtville on Thursday, 12 December 2024. The police followed up on information received from the public regarding a suspicious Toyota Avanza vehicle that allegedly dropped off unknown persons in a farming area, and tactically approached the assailants. A search was conducted and rolls of copper cables were found in the trunk of the vehicle, valued at approximately R32 000.00. The four suspects believed to be from the Western Cape Province were arrested and charged for possession of suspected stolen property and will appear in the Niewoudtville periodic Magistrates Court soon. The Namakwa District Commissioner, Brigadier Schalk Andrews, commended the members and stakeholders involved for their vigilance and ensuring perpetrators of non-ferrous metal related crimes are apprehended.
