New political movement MOVE SA mobilises 300 candidates for 2026 local elections
MOVE SA has rapidly mobilised over 300 councillor candidates across three key Gauteng municipalities within just over 30 days of its inception.
The newly formed political party is positioning itself as a major contender for the 2026 Local Government Elections, targeting the regions of Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni, and Emfuleni. The candidates recently convened in Diepsloot for a comprehensive induction workshop.
This session marked a critical milestone in building the party’s local leadership structure and aligning its representatives ahead of the upcoming polls.
The party attributes its early momentum to a deliberate leadership structure that blends diverse generations and backgrounds. MOVE SA’s candidate pool includes:Young and experienced leaders working in tandem, an equal representation of men and women and diverse community perspectives focused on practical public service.
MOVE SA President Rali Mampeule emphasised that the movement’s primary objective is to encourage citizens to take direct ownership of their local governance.
The leadership says election day is just the start of a governance model that prioritises resident feedback and localized problem-solving.
The party is currently preparing for its official public launch on Sunday, 30 August 2026, as it transitions from a rapid recruitment phase into a structured electoral campaign.
