Media Statement POLOKWANE – The Police in Jane Furse, Nebo, and Masemola in collaboration with Tracking Team have made a significant breakthrough in arresting suspects behind the brutal killing of a 35-year-old man whose body was found at Riverside on Friday, 07 June 2024, at about 09:00. According to information received, the Police were summoned to the scene together with EMS following discovery of the lifeless body of a man, which was in an advanced state of decomposition. The police further investigation revealed the identity of the deceased and that he used to be troublesome at home, and as such, on several occasions, his mother had to flee from home. It was in the instance that the 35-year-old was allegedly advised to get people who were meant to sort him out after reporting him again to police on 11 May 2024. Indeed the two boys, aged 22 and 35, who are from Jane Furse were taken to the house in mid May 2024 where they were accompanied by the victim’s mother and they kidnapped the man and took him to the bushes next to the Library in Jane Furse, where they attacked him with a hammer and killed him. They then took him to Riverside, where they dumped his lifeless body, and the mother went to police where she reported him missing. The police’s probe led to the arrest of the three suspects, namely two men and the mother of the deceased man. The murder weapon was also confiscated for further investigation. The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo SAPS, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, hailed the relentless efforts by the teams involved, which resulted in the arrest. “Domestic violence is becoming a serious threat to bringing about peace and stability in the province. It becomes every one’s responsibility within the society to make sure that steps are taken to help those in need of assistance to professionals to prevent unnecessary loss of lives”, concluded General Hadebe. The three suspects whose ages range between 22 and 35 are expected to appear before Jane Furse Magistrate’s Court soon. The Police investigations are ongoing. Ends
