Ndamane Demands Extra Gear From Sundowns Against Arrows
Mamelodi Sundowns defender Khulumani Ndamane says the Brazilians must find another gear if they are to claim maximum points against Golden Arrows in Sunday afternoon’s Betway Premiership clash at King Zwelithini Stadium.
The encounter comes after the sides met twice in the MTN8 semi-finals. Sundowns survived a dramatic tie, winning the second leg 3-2 and progressing to the final on the away-goals rule after the aggregate score finished 3-3.
They now meet again, with three league points at stake. Ndamane expects another difficult battle, particularly with Arrows playing at home and determined to respond after their cup exit.
“We have already played them twice and know it won’t be easy. Both teams want to win.
“So we have to focus and do our best to return with the three points,” Ndamane said.
Sundowns enter the match knowing victory could send them to the top of the standings.
They are level on 13 points with Orlando Pirates, who are unavailable for league action this weekend because of continental commitments. A win would give the Brazilians a chance to move three points clear.
The match is another test of Sundowns’ squad depth after a demanding run of fixtures. Ndamane and his teammates will need to remain disciplined, especially against an Arrows side that has already shown it can trouble the champions.
Kick-off is scheduled for 3pm at King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi, Durban.
