Media Statement POLOKWANE – The police in Namakgale near Phalaborwa are investigating a case of murder following the death of a 21-year-old man at Buffer Zone, in Namakgale, Mopani District, on Tuesday 26, March 2024 at about 13:10. It is reported that the police received a complaint about a male person who had been attacked by members of the community at Buffer Zone area. Upon arrival at the scene, they discovered a male person lying along the street with severe injuries. It is alleged that the victim was assaulted by members of the community, who accused him of stealing their property in the area. The emergency Medical personnel were called to the scene, and the victim was taken to the closest hospital where he unfortunately later succumbed to his injuries. The police opened a murder case and a manhunt for the suspects was launched. The deceased was identified as Kgashane Malatji (21) residing at Mashishimale village. The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has condemned the mob justice incident. She further encouraged the community to assist police with information that can lead to the arrest of suspects.
