Award-winning singer and songwriter Naledi Aphiwe has added another milestone to her inspiring journey. At just 19 years old, the rising star has successfully renovated her parents’ home in KwaZulu-Natal, a dream that many only achieve much later in life.
Aphiwe shared the news with her fans on TikTok and Instagram, posting a video tour of the refurbished house. The clip highlights a sleek, modern kitchen and living area that reflect her personal style and the pride she takes in giving back to her family.
In her caption, she wrote:
“Renovated my home, I’m so proud of myself. Big girl, big moves. Please continue supporting me — ngizowenza okukhulu kakhulu ekhaya (I will do more at home). I wouldn’t have been here if you guys weren’t here to support me.”
Naledi’s achievement is the latest chapter in a remarkable few years. In 2024, she completed her matric with a bachelor’s pass, balancing her studies with a music career that was already gaining momentum.
Her big break came in 2022 when international superstar Chris Brown discovered a viral clip of her singing. Struck by her “incredible” voice, Brown shared the video on his Instagram stories. The following year, he invited her to feature on his 11th studio album, 11:11, on the track “Shooter.”
The collaboration gave her global exposure and earned her $3,000 (about R56,000) in royalties — a life-changing opportunity for the then-teenager. Since then, she has gone on to release her own singles and collaborate with leading South African artists, including rapper Blxckie, cementing her place in the local music industry.
