Media Statement POTCHEFSTROOM – Nkululeko Mbekezele Mbatha (24) and Siyabonga Sithole (31) were remanded in custody until Thursday, 30 May 2024, after their first court appearance on Friday, 24 May 2024, before the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court on charges of murder and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. The duo’s court appearance emanated from an incident reported on Wednesday, 22 May 2024, in Andrew Street, Klerksdorp. Timotheo Kenntse (29) was allegedly shot several times outside his residence. The suspects then fled in a silver Hyundai. The victim was declared dead at the scene by Emergency and Medical Rescue Services (EMRS). The fleeing silver Hyundai was traced and stopped by police in Potchefstroom, near New Machavie on the N12 road. On searching the vehicle, the police found two firearms with ammunition and immediately arrested the duo. The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena commended the police for their speedy reaction and collaboration that led to this success. He said police will continue to work hard to remove dangerous weapons from the hands of criminals. Ends
