Media Statement EASTERN CAPE – The Mthatha Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team in collaboration with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) and the South African Revenue Service (SARS) (HONEY BUDGER PROJECT CASES) has successfully secured the arrest of a 44-year-old suspect, a director of DIBU Construction Consultation on charges of alleged fraud and violations of the Tax Administration Act No. 28 of 2011 (Section 234(2)(d)) and the Income Tax Act No. 58 of 1962. The arrest follows a J175 warrant issued on 17 January 2025. The case was subsequently referred to the Hawks for further investigation. Preliminary findings revealed that the suspect allegedly failed to submit personal income tax returns for the period 2018 to 2023, despite repeated reminders from SARS to ensure compliance. The suspect is expected to appear before the Mthatha Magistrate’s Court on 06 February 2025. Ends
