Media Statement WESTERN CAPE – Continued efforts by police members to prevent the distribution of drugs led to the detention of five suspects who were found in possession of 517 mandrax tablets on Thursday 03 October 2024. Moorreesburg police members performed crime combatting activities when they responded to information about drugs being transported via the N7 Highway between Malmesbury and Moorreesburg. The members operationalised the information and proceeded to the highway where they spotted the suspicious motor vehicle in the vicinity of Bottelfontein Road, travelling towards Moorreesburg. The police members instructed the driver of the motor vehicle to stop upon which they searched the five occupants and the motor vehicle, resulting in the recovery of mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R20 000. They detained the five suspects between the ages 30 and 40 on a charge of dealing in drugs.
The suspects made their court appearance in the Moorreesburg Magistrates’ court today, Monday 07 October 2024 on the mentioned charge.
