MOGALAKWENA FORMER MUNICIPAL MANAGER TO REMAIN IN CUSTODY AS COURT RESERVES BAIL RULING

MOKOPANE – Former Mogalakwena Local Municipality Manager Morris Montego Maluleka will remain behind bars until at least 27 October 2026, when the Mokopane Magistrates’ Court is expected to deliver its ruling on his formal bail application.

Maluleka appeared before the court on Monday, 19 October 2026, for proceedings relating to his bail application.

His continued detention comes as the legal process surrounding allegations linked to the Mogalakwena Municipality fleet tender continues to unfold.

Maluleka was among those arrested by the Hawks in connection with alleged fraud, corruption and money laundering relating to a municipal fleet contract.

The allegations relate to a contract awarded in 2022, with investigators probing payments made in connection with the deal.

The accused persons remain subject to the legal process, and the allegations have yet to be proven in court.

The court is expected to determine whether Maluleka should be released on bail or remain in custody while the case proceeds.

The matter is scheduled to return to the Mokopane Magistrates’ Court on 27 October 2026 for the bail ruling.
