21 February 2025 – Coach Helman Mkhalele has announced the South Africa squad that will face Egypt over two legs in a first round African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier in the coming days.
Mkhalele, who is assistant to South African men’s senior national team mentor Hugo Broos, will coach the side that will represent South Africa in the CHAN qualifiers to be played this year and he will be assisted by U20 men’s coach Raymond Mdaka. The Bafana Bafana CHAN side will host the Egyptians on Friday 28 February at Free State Stadium and then travel to North Africa for the return leg on 9 March 2025.
The team assembles in Johannesburg on 26 February 2025 and then immediately travels to Bloemfontein on the same day. They will return to Johannesburg a day after the match where they will remain in camp until departure to Egypt on 6 March 2025.
The winner of this match will proceed to the second round of the CHAN qualifiers to be played in May 2025.
