MK Party iLembe Mayoral Candidate Khaye Madlala Takes Service Delivery Battle Directly to eMandeni Residents
As the local government elections approach, uMkhonto WeSizwe Party (MK Party) mayoral candidate for iLembe District Municipality, Khaye Madlala, has taken his campaign directly to the people of eMandeni.
He engaged extensively with taxi operators, informal traders, and residents to hear firsthand their concerns about failing service delivery and the challenges directly affecting their livelihoods.
At the eMandeni Taxi Rank, taxi operators raised serious concerns about deteriorating roads and non-functioning traffic lights.
Concurrently, informal traders expressed intense frustration over the lack of adequate trading infrastructure, highlighting that they rely heavily on these micro-businesses to feed their families and raise their children.
During door-to-door engagements, local residents also identified an unreliable water supply and dry taps as being among their most pressing daily concerns.
Madlala underscored the seriousness of these issues, calling urgently for financial accountability. He noted that the current state of affairs is a true reflection that public resources are not translating into tangible improvements in people’s lives.
“How can communities continue to struggle with basic services when public money is allocated to improve their lives? Where roads are deteriorating, traffic lights are not working, traders lack proper facilities and residents cannot access water, government must account for its spending and its performance. Public funds belong to the people, and the people deserve results,” said Madlala.
He further emphasized that credible allegations of corruption, financial misconduct, and the misuse of public funds must be thoroughly investigated, with clear accountability and consequences established wherever wrongdoing is found.
Madlala stated that his approach would go far beyond empty election promises, focusing instead on transparent governance, stronger financial oversight, responsive leadership, and measurable service delivery outcomes.
His immediate priorities include:engaging relevant authorities to restore water reliability, road maintenance, and traffic safety, advocating for dignified trading facilities for informal vendors and strengthening community participation directly in local government decision-making processes.
While acknowledging that some services fall under different spheres of government, he stressed that effective leadership requires proactive coordination, clear accountability, and consistent follow-through.
An MK Party-led administration, he promised, will prioritize people, protect public resources, and ensure that service delivery is measured by what communities actually experience on the ground, rather than what politicians promise.
As election day approaches, Madlala called on residents to demand leadership that remains present beyond the campaign season—one completely committed to accountability, effective service delivery, and the urgent restoration of public confidence in local government.
