The Minister of Human Settlements, Thembi Simelani, visited Mothotlung in Madibeng on Friday, 26 September 2025, as part of the national “Title Deed Friday” campaign under the Title Deeds Restoration Program.

She was joined by the North West MEC for CoGTA, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs, Gaoage Oageng Molapisi, and welcomed by the Executive Mayor of Madibeng, Cllr Douglas Maimane.
Together, they handed over 397 title deeds to rightful housing beneficiaries, formally recognising them as legal homeowners and enabling them to unlock the value of their properties.

The Title Deeds Restoration Program is an ongoing government campaign to fast-track the issuing of title deeds, ensuring residents of subsidised housing gain security of tenure and economic empowerment.

The Department has set a target of 80,000 title deeds nationally between 2004 and 2029, while the North West aims to deliver 6,718 title deeds between April 2025 and March 2026.
