Minister Lamola to address a WITS Association of International Relations Seminar

The Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Mr Ronald Lamola, will on Thursday 18 April 2024, address the Wits Association of International Relations seminar. The seminar is organised by the Wits Scholars under the theme: “the impact of South Africa’s recent application of international law and its effect on the African inter-state relations”.
It is intended to provide an opportunity for scholars to engage Minister Lamola and other venerated panel members on amongst other issues, the role of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and its contribution to the development and enforcement of International law, the implications of the South Africa’s case before the ICJ and the future of International law and its impact on global governance in conflict resolution.
The seminar will also foster insightful discussions on the purpose and effectiveness of international law, the role of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), navigating contradictions in international relations, balancing sovereignty and international law, and the future trajectory of international law.
Other panel members who will grace the seminar are Advocate Naefa Khan, Advocate Tshidiso Ramogale, Ambassador Bheki Langa, Professor Musa Musemva, Professor De Matos Ala and Dr Natalie Zaringer.
Minister Lamola’s participation in the seminar is in line with the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development’s strategic objective of fostering and harnessing relations with all sectors of society in the context of celebrating 30 Years of Freedom and Democracy.
