Mfundo Vilakazi sends emotional message to Mofokeng after Belgium move confirmed
Kaizer Chiefs youngster Mfundo Vilakazi has paid tribute to Orlando Pirates star Relebohile Mofokeng after his long-awaited move to Belgian club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise was officially confirmed.
Pirates announced on Wednesday morning that they had reached an agreement with the Belgian Pro League side for the transfer of the 22-year-old attacking midfielder.
The deal is now only awaiting a successful medical and the completion of personal terms before it is finalised.
Mofokeng is expected to arrive in Belgium this week to begin a new chapter in his career after helping Pirates win the Betway Premiership title and starring for Bafana Bafana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Following the announcement, Vilakazi took to Instagram to congratulate one of South Africa’s brightest young talents.
The Chiefs midfielder, who has often been compared with Mofokeng as one of the country’s leading players from the new generation, shared an emotional message for his rival and friend.
“My heart is full… All the best Njaka (my Dawg), God bless you President yama 2K,” wrote Vilakazi.
The message quickly attracted attention from football supporters, with many praising the mutual respect between the two youngsters despite representing South Africa’s biggest rivals.
Known affectionately as “President yama2K” among local football fans, Mofokeng now looks set to become the latest South African player to test himself in Europe.
His move is expected to inspire a new generation of youngsters dreaming of following the same path from the PSL to Europe’s top leagues.
