In an alleged jungle-justice incident reported in Mmabatho on Monday evening, 24 March 2025, a 27-year-old victim was at his house in Montshiwa with his girlfriend. He was approached by a group of men, who accused him of stealing his neighbours’ car wheels (rims with tyres). He was suddenly grabbed and kidnapped to a nearby place, known as the old Kopanelo Beer Hall, where he was assaulted with knobkierries and a hose pipe. The victim managed to escape and was taken to a local hospital by a family member, where he was admitted for multiple injuries, including a fractured arm and leg. Police investigations led to the arrest of three suspects of which one is a member of the local Community Police Forum (CPF), Thato Keobakile Mogale (39) as well as Legogang Moleboge (38) and Tlotlego Danny Ndaleni (24). The trio appeared before the Mmabatho Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 28 March 2025, and were remanded in custody until their next court appearance on Wednesday, 02 April 2025. The Acting Provincial Police Commissioner, Major General Patrick Asaneng, applauded the members for their prompt, collaborative, and tireless efforts that led to the successes. He once more warned that members of the public who take the law into their own hands will face the full might of the law. Ends
