Media invitation: Deputy Minister of Police to join the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Gauteng to lead Safer Festive Season Operations in Johannesburg District

The Deputy Minister of Police, Mr Cassel Mathale will join the Provincial Commissioner of the Police in Gauteng, Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni on Monday, 30 December 2024, to lead the annual Festive Season Operations in the Johannesburg District. The operation forms part of efforts by the South African Police Service (SAPS) to channel resources to areas where they are most needed.

The interventions will enable the police to decisively deal with crime and any security threats this holiday season and beyond. The Deputy Minister and the Provincial Commissioner will assess the effectiveness of the Safer Festive Season operational plans put in place, to ensure the safety of all residents and tourists in the province, during the holiday period.

The operation will include visits to areas of business, entertainment and leisure as well as police visibility in identified high crime areas.
