Social media has been flooded with posts from distraught female fans following the revelation that Springbok Makazole Mapimpi has secretly married and welcomed a child.
The shock announcement was made by coach Rassie Erasmus, who explained the player’s absence at the test match over the weekend.
According to rumours, Mapimpi welcomed his first child this week, reportedly with his partner Sasha De Sousa.
MAPIMPI IS A DAD!
According to rugby reporter Hendrik Cronjé, Makazole Mapimpi officially became a father on Friday.
Just days earlier, Rassie Erasmus revealed the real reason for the winger’s omission from the squad against the All Blacks.
He said of the popular player: “His wife is giving birth. We do not want to keep him away from that.”
Mapimpi – who was previously known as one of the Boks’s last eligible bachelors – joins first-time fathers in the squad like Handre Pollard, Faf du Plessis, Eben Etzebeth, Salmaan Moerat and Herschel Jantjies.
FEMALE FANS ARE HEARTBROKEN
While both Makazole Mapimpi and his alleged wife and baby mama, Sasha De Sousa, have blue-ticked any baby announcement, the news has been a trending topic on social media.
On TikTok, female fans have posted hilarious skits about the hunky rugby star being officially off the market.

A FAMILY OF HIS OWN
While many fans are heartbroken over Makazole’s relationship status, others are overjoyed that he has finally found a family of his own.
In season one of the Springboks documentary Chasing The Sun, Rassie Erasmus had viewers in tears when he revealed Mapimpi’s tragic upbringing.
He said of the squad: “On the back of your jersey, there are numbers where you could have photos of family members.
“He only had photos of himself, he didn’t have anyone else, and I asked, ‘Why are you doing this?’ and he said, ‘I’ve got nobody.’”
Rassie added: “He doesn’t play for the one thing, he just has a massive heart. Massive heart.”
According to TshisaLive, Mapimpi’s mother, Eunice, died in a car accident when he was just 14. Meanwhile, his father had abandoned his family.
Mapimpi also suffered the devastating deaths of his sister Zukiswa, who succumbed to a brain illness, and his brother Zolani, who was electrocuted.
