Media Statement POLOKWANE – The South African Police Service in Sekgosese have launched a massive manhunt for suspects after a mutilated body of a male person was found in the bushes at Mamaila village. On Friday, 27 December 2024 at about 06:30, the police were summoned to a complaint of murder at Mamaila village, after members of the community noticed a body of a male person in the bushes. The police discovered that the victim’s throat was cut. His little finger and private parts were also removed. The emergency personnel were summoned to the scene and certified him dead. The deceased person was identified as Jan Mohale, aged 40, from Raphahlelo in Sekgosese village, as next-of-kins were informed about the incident. Meanwhile, the Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has condemned the incident in the strongest possible terms. She emphasized that police will never rest until the suspects have been arrested and further called upon communities with information to call the nearest police. “Although the motive behind the murder is still unknown, ritual related killing cannot be ruled out at this stage,” concluded Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.
