Media Statement POLOKWANE – Botlokwa Police in Capricorn District have launched a manhunt for a suspect involved in the brutal murder of a 36-year-old man and kidnapping and rape of his female friend on Saturday midnight, 01 June 2024 at Mokomene village. According to preliminary information, the female victim was at a local food outlet when the deceased arrived with an unknown male companion and requested her to borrow him an undisclosed amount of money. The unknown man then told her to get inside the deceased’s vehicle, and the trio drove to the local sports ground. Upon arrival, the unknown suspect hit the deceased with a brick on his head, and he collapsed. The suspect then dragged him to the bushes, and when he returned, he raped the woman and afterwards left the woman and drove off with the deceased’s vehicle. Police were notified and swiftly responded. The deceased’s vehicle (Toyota Hilux) was spotted along Sekhokho gravel road where a speed car chase ensued. The suspect jumped out of the vehicle, and he managed to evade the arrest. The deceased’s vehicle and his two cellphones, were recovered.
