Man United comment on Greenwood charges

On Saturday it emerged that Greenwood had been arrested after breaking the phrases of his bail settlement in relation to home abuse allegations.

It was then later confirmed that the “CPS has authorised GMP to charge Mason Greenwood, 21, with attempted rape, engaging in controlling + coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. All 3 counts relate to same complainant.”

Greenwood has nonetheless been banking a big wage from United

“All three counts relate to the same complainant. Specialist rape prosecutors from CPS North West’s complex casework unit authorised the charges following a review of a file of evidence received from Greater Manchester Police.

“The defendant’s first court appearance will take place on Monday, October 17 at Greater Manchester magistrates’ court. The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against the defendant are active and that he has a right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice those proceedings.”

Prior to Saturday’s bombshell, there was little additional data that has been made public, and the one actual certainty is that Greenwood stays indefinitely suspended by Manchester United. However, the membership continues to pay the suspended ahead £75 000-a-week.

Greenwood has already missed greater than 30 matches for Man United, and there’s no signal of a return any time quickly, with the playmaker final that includes for the Red Devils when he began within the 1-0 win over West Ham on 22 January.
