Man sentenced for possession of stolen vehicle

KWAZULU-NATAL – On Wednesday 4 June 2024, Glencoe Regional Court convicted and sentenced Muntumuhle Gasa (24) for possession of a stolen motor vehicle which happened at Glencoe.   

On 16 October 2023, Glencoe K9 Unit arrested Gasa after a chase following a cash in transit heist. He was found in possession of a VW Polo that was hijacked in Inanda area near Durban. He was charged accordingly and appeared in court several times until he was found guilty yesterday.

Gasa was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment which is wholly suspended for five years and he was declared unfit to possess a firearm.

The KwaZulu-Natal Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Provincial Head, Major General (Dr) Lesetja Senona welcomed the sentence and applauded the job well done.
