Media Statement FREE STATE – The Petrus Steyn Detectives and Vispol arrested the 53-year-old man from Mamafubedu near Petrus Steyn for possession of suspected stolen copper wire, seized his bakkie and farmer identified his property. The detective members received community tip-off with regard to certain people who were loading suspected stolen property into a bakkie on Sunday, 16 June 2024, in the evening at Mamafubedu Township. The two members activated other members, and they confronted the suspects. One of the two suspects fled and is still at large. It was discovered that the suspected stolen copperwire was stolen from the local farm in the district of Petrus Steyn, and the farmer established that his irrigation system has been tempered and wires removed. Both copperwire and 1400 white Nissan bakkie were seized.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Reitz Magistrate court on Tuesday, 18 June 2024, facing a charge of possession of suspected stolen property.
