A 33-year-old man from Driefontein village in Sekhukhune, Limpopo, miraculously escaped from four armed men who kidnapped him from his home late at night. The ordeal unfolded around 11:30 pm on Tuesday in the Matlelerekeng area.
The victim was in his shack with his wife and child when the intruders burst in. Two of them were carrying guns, and they forced him into a silver-grey Honda sedan. His wife and child managed to get away safely, but he was driven off while being beaten repeatedly with a firearm.
The kidnappers stopped the car at Koedoespoort in Mpumalanga, giving the man a chance to break free. He navigated through remote paths and made it back home around 3 am on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, where he quickly reported the incident to the police.
Authorities have opened a kidnapping case, now handled by the Provincial Organised Crime Unit. The reason behind the abduction is still unclear and under investigation.
