A 28-year-old man has been arrested in George, Western Cape, after police found him in possession of 4,000 mandrax tablets valued at R200,000.
The suspect, a foreign national, was stopped by police during a routine patrol in Thembalethu. Officers from the K9 unit approached a vehicle they found suspicious. The driver attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended.
Upon searching the vehicle, police discovered thousands of mandrax tablets, a commonly abused drug in South Africa. The man was taken into custody and charged with drug dealing.
He appeared in the Thembalethu Magistrates Court and was remanded pending a formal bail hearing, which is scheduled for July 28.
