As always, we will see a few new faces at Mamelodi Sundowns next season, so will be new but not entirely brand new. Malebogo Modise is returning to Kabo Yellow after a loan stint with Chippa United.
MALEBOGO MODISE GOING BACK TO MAMELODI SUNDOWNS FROM CHIPPA UNITED
Modise joined Kabo Yellow at junior level after leaving his home of Mahikeng, North West very young. Once known as “Bale,” Modise has loaned to JRD Stars, Maritzburg United and of course Chippa United last season.
According to iDiski Times, Modise is going back to Sundowns after a wonderful loan season with the Chilli Boys in Gqeberha.
“Malebogo Modise, who was on a season-long loan at Chippa United will return to his mother club Mamelodi Sundowns,” the report said.
“With the player’s contract set to expire at the end of this month, June 30, Modise will return to Sundowns, though United are thought to be keen on retaining him for another season, having put in a great shift during his brief spell at the Gqeberha-based outfit.
“With Downs having the likes of international trio – Terrence Mashego, Aubrey Modiba, and Abdelmounain Boutouil in that position, the ever-hard-working left-back could well be set for an extended stay at Chippa,” the report added.
TEBOHO MOKOENA TO SET TO LEAVE?
DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns may lose a clutch player before next season. The name is Teboho Mokoena.
According to iDiski Times, two-time Qatari champions Al-Wakrah are keen to sign the 27-year-old Mokoena from Sundowns. The report added that Kabo Yellow‘s asking price has somewhat put the deal in jeopardy.
“Qatari Stars League side Al-Wakrah have expressed interest in Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teboho Mokoena. Mokoena has been linked to several clubs over the past two seasons after emerging as one of the leading performers for club and country.
“He starred with Bafana Bafana at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and was included in the Team of the Tournament, which brought interest from Egyptian giants Al Ahly and in England, according to media reports,” the report added. Meanwhile, Sundowns are currently trying to entice the Bethlehem-born Mokoena with a new deal.
TEBOHO MOKOENA IS READY FOR EUROPE – HUGO BROOS
Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos recently shared his views on Mokoena’s possible move out of Mzansi.
“Maybe in Sundowns, they will not be happy now, but I hope Mokwena can make the steps because he’s ready for it,” said Broos as quoted by the Citizen.
“Sometimes I say, what’s this one going to do in Europe? But Teboho is ready to do it. And maybe some other players also.
Addtionally, Mokoena’s Sundowns teammate Lucas Ribeiro believes the former SuperSport United star deserves to go abroad.
“Actually, Tebza is one of the players, it’s surprises me with all the attributes and the qualities he has, strong physical presence and the ability to score outside the box, shoots and also runs a lot. So, he’s got all the qualities that you can get from a midfielder. It still surprises me that he’s my teammate in South Africa because players of that quality, you probably see them in top clubs in Europe,” Ribeiro said via SABC Sport.
“I asking about him being focused in Sundowns or maybe being actually disturbed by other offers but he said he’s gonna put every focus he has on the last two games or the last games of the league and also to focus on the final, that’s where his mind is at but God decides or takes the final decision. But his mind and everything is towards Sundowns,” the Brazilian attacker concluded.
