MALAWI HIGH COURT RULES AGAINST EXTRADITION
MALAWI: The High Court of Malawi has reportedly delivered a final ruling barring the extradition of the Prophet Bushir and Mary Bushiri who are involved in the case, citing concerns over the evidence presented against them.
In a statement, the Prophet Sherperd Bushiri said the court agreed with key arguments, including the lack of sufficient evidence, the use of anonymous witnesses and the rejection of evidence deemed hearsay rather than solid proof.
He also raised allegations of police officers opening fraudulent cases to extort money from them, as well as xenophobic attacks and demonstrations at their church in South Africa demanding that they leave the country. The statement further alleged that their church tents had been petrol-bombed.
The individuals expressed concern over reports that some police generals involved in their arrest had since been arrested or dismissed in connection with separate corruption allegations, raising questions about accountability and justice.
He thanked God and supporters who stood by them throughout the legal battle, describing the ruling as an answer to their prayers.
