Media Statement POLOKWANE – A joint intelligence-driven operation has led to the arrest of two notorious suspects connected to a series of violent and serious cases in Vhembe District. The suspects, a 20-year-old foreign national and a 39-year-old South African citizen, were apprehended on Friday, 06 September 2024, at separate locations in Madimbo village, Masisi policing area. The suspects are linked to multiple cases, including robbery, carjacking, attempted murder, and kidnapping. During the arrest, the police recovered two firearms and 27 live rounds of ammunition. It is believed that the suspects are part of a gang that has been terrorizing communities and businesses in the district for months. As the investigation unfolds, the possibility of linking them to other similar cases is high. The suspects are expected to make their first court appearance before the Musina Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 09 September 2024. The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe welcomed the arrest and commended the meticulous investigation that led to the recovery of the firearms. “This breakthrough brings relief to the affected communities and restores confidence in our efforts to create a safer and secure environment for all citizens of this province. The investigation continues to trace and bring to book all those involved.” concluded Lieutenant General Hadebe. Ends
