Witness F has been hospitalised, forcing a dramatic postponement at the Madlanga Commission as explosive allegations continue to shake South Africa’s criminal justice system.
Proceedings at the Madlanga Commission were briefly disrupted after the SAPS organised crime unit member submitted a medical note confirming hospitalisation. His testimony has now been rescheduled for the final day of hearings.
The commission has heard shocking claims involving suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya, alleged “Big 5” cartel leader Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala, private security boss Steve Motshumi, Pretoria taxi boss Jothan Zanemvila known as King Mswazi, and senior Hawks officials.
Serious allegations of corruption, political interference, and infiltration of criminal networks into law enforcement structures continue to unfold. The fallout has extended to the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department, where senior officials including former city manager Imogen Mashazi and suspended EMPD chief Julius Mkhwanazi face scrutiny over controversial agreements and alleged misconduct.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has established a special investigative task team following recommendations emerging from the commission.
The final day of hearings could prove decisive.
