Media Statement POLOKWANE – The members of the Limpopo Provincial Vispol Task Team were busy conducting operational duties in Botlokwa policing area when they were provided valuable information about a foreign National male who was in possession of illicit cigarettes at Ga-Polata village on Thursday, 02 May 2024 at about 13:30. Police rushed to an identified location of the suspect and found a 28-year-old foreign National who was selling at a Tuckshop upon their arrival. Police searched the Tuckshop but could not find anything and proceeded to the main house. They subsequently discovered 270 cartoons containing Remington Gold cigarettes worth more than R270 000-00 that were stored. The suspect failed to provide a convincing response about the origin of illicit cigarettes and was immediately placed under an arrest at the scene. A 28-year-old male suspect is expected to appear before Morebeng Magistrate court soon facing a charge of possession of illicit cigarettes.
Police investigations are continuing.
