POLOKWANE – Four suspects aged between 30 and 39 are set to appear before Sekhukhune Magistrate’s court on Monday, 10 February 2025, for Kidnapping, Extortion and Assault of an employee of a private company along R555 road at Kutullo village. It is alleged that a dramatic incident happened on Wednesday, 06 February 2025 at about 18:05 when the victim who was driving a company car from Gauteng Province was driving along R555 road near Kutullo village when his way was blocked by a white Ford Ranger with registration number of Gauteng Province. Two African males allegedly alighted from the vehicle and started shouting at the victim. Suddenly, the other two men joined them and demanded money about R50 000-00 for him to be given a way to pass. They apparently took him to a certain place where they were drinking liquor until at about 22:00. The Police were notified about suspects who kidnapped a person at Kutullo. The swift police response led to the arrests of four suspects while still at the hiding place and seized a Ford Ranger that was used in the commission of crime. All four suspects will face kidnapping, extortion and Assault with intent to inflict serious bodily harm (GBH). The victim was also rescued safely. The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe praised the members involved in the arrests.
“This Province cannot allow a situation of lawlessness where people are held ransom by criminal elements,” concluded the General.
