Media Statement POLOKWANE – The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has applauded the meticulous work of the investigators in Vhembe District, following the swift apprehension of four suspects who allegedly killed a Senior Provincial Inspector, Mr Mbulaheni Patrick Netshidzivhani attached to Mutale Traffic Station. The deceased was initially reported missing after he left his home at Hamakhuvha village on Sunday, 12 January 2025. The deceased reportedly went to Khunguni Mountain where he conducts his routine fitness exercises and later failed to return to his respective home. The matter was immediately reported to the police and a missing person inquiry was registered. The police commenced with investigation in earnest which led to the recovery of the Traffic Police officer’s vehicle and the subsequent arrest of four suspects, three men and a woman from within the locality. Following the arrest of the suspects, the police went further to recover the lifeless body of the Traffic Police in the mountain. While post-mortem is yet to be conducted, preliminary reports indicate the deceased Traffic Police officer was strangled to death. The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has reassured the community that police will work hard and will never rest until they get to the bottom of this senseless and brutal killing. She further hailed the hard work by the team of investigators under Thohoyandou Station Commander, Brigadier Simon Mukwevho who worked tirelessly to ensure that those responsible are arrested. “The work done by police is a reminder to show case that we continue to live up to our commitment. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, friends and colleagues of Senior Provincial Inspector Netshidzivhani,” concluded Lieutenant General Hadebe.
The suspects will appear before Mutale Magistrate’s Court soon facing murder charges.
