Media Statement POLOKWANE – The Provincial Commissioner of SAPS in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has commended the swift arrest of a 48-year-old suspect responsible for the brutal murder of his 42-year-old alleged girlfriend at Moretsele village, Jane Furse policing area in Sekhukhune District on Thursday 27 June 2024. The suspect was arrested in the early hours of Saturday, 29 June 2024, subsequent to an intelligence driven operation by members of Sekhukhune Tracing team. The arrest emanates after police responded to a complaint of people being attacked at their place of residence. Upon arrival at the specified place, they discovered a woman’s body lying in a pool of blood with stab wounds to her head and face. The suspect had already fled the scene. A case of murder was opened and manhunt was activated to trace the alleged suspect. The deceased’s boyfriend was arrested while in his hideout in Nebo policing area and positively linked with the incident. The motive behind the incident will be determined through the ongoing police investigation but domestic violence cannot be ruled out. “We are deeply saddened by another senseless killing of a vulnerable woman allegedly at the hands of her partner. We will do everything in our power to ensure justice is served,” added Lieutenant General Hadebe. The suspect will appear before Sekhukhune Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 01 July 2024.
