POLOKWANE – The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has condemned in the strongest terms an attempted murder of a man aged 28, in a mob justice related attack at Hamuraga village under Thohoyandou policing precinct on Tuesday, 05 November 2024. The police were alerted about the mob justice incident of a male person at the said village. Upon arrival, the victim was found lying under a tree with burned wounds. His legs were tied up with a rope. Members of Public Order Policing were already at the scene and managed to disperse the community members at the scene. He was transported to the local hospital by his family after they identified him and alleged that he is a mentally disturbed person. Circumstances behind the mob attack incident are currently unknown, but further police investigations will determine. The Police have opened a case of attempted murder. “We still urge the community members to desist from acts of vigilantism and report suspicious activity or criminals to their local police,” said Lieutenant General, Thembi Hadebe.
