Police hunt suspect linked to Limpopo murder, robbery cases
POLOKWANE: Limpopo police detectives are appealing to the public for information that could lead to the arrest of a suspect wanted in connection with several serious cases, including murder, robbery and attempted murder.
The suspect, Sipho Sphola Mokwatedi, from Ga-Mabitsela, Moletjie, is being sought by detectives attached to the Limpopo Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit.
Police said Mokwatedi is believed to have information that could assist investigators in resolving several cases reported in Mogwadi and Seshego between 2021 and 2026.
These include a murder case reported in Mogwadi in September 2025, another murder case reported in Seshego in April 2026, and a robbery and attempted murder case reported in Seshego in June 2026.
Detectives are also investigating a murder case stemming from an attack at a liquor restaurant in Ga-Chokwe, Moletjie, on 25 December 2021.
According to police, 33-year-old Kwena Sacra Legodi and his male friend were at the liquor establishment when they were allegedly attacked by a group of armed men.
The attackers were allegedly armed with knives, knobkieries and slashers.
Legodi sustained severe injuries and was declared dead at the scene, while his friend managed to escape despite also being injured.
A murder case was opened and seven suspects were subsequently arrested in connection with the attack.
The accused were released on bail, but police said warrants of arrest were later issued for certain accused persons who failed to appear in court.
In a further development, the friend who survived the 2021 attack was allegedly shot and killed at his residence in Ga-Chokwe, Moletjie, on 12 April 2026.
Police have now intensified their investigation and are calling on anyone who may have information about Mokwatedi’s whereabouts or the cases under investigation to come forward.
Police urged Mokwatedi to report to his nearest police station, saying investigators believe he could assist in resolving the cases.
