DUNDEE – The Greytown Regional Court has sentenced Nkosinathi Ndlovu (27) to life imprisonment for the murder of a 22-year-old female victim in Lindelani, under the Greytown policing precinct, in October 2023. On the day of the incident, police responded to a stabbing complaint. Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused, the victim’s former boyfriend, had fatally stabbed her, following an argument. She succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Through thorough investigative work, Warrant Officer Thembinkosi Wanda and the Greytown Detectives swiftly arrested the accused and gathered all necessary evidence to ensure the case was trial-ready. On 10 March 2025, the court found Ndlovu guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment. In a separate case, on 11 March 2025, the Greytown Regional Court sentenced Sandile Gumbi (33) to 24 years of direct imprisonment for two counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances. The conviction stems from a September 2023 incident in which Gumbi robbed two victims of their wages shortly after they were paid.
The South African Police Service in Umzinyathi District commends the dedication of its detectives in ensuring justice for the victims and their families. These convictions serve as a strong message that violent crimes will not be tolerated.
