Lekau Sehoana steps into retail, opens new store in Soweto
Entrepreneur Lekau Sehoana, known for founding the popular Drip Footwear brand, has expanded his business ventures with the grand opening of a new store as the newly EasyPrice Holdings.
The launch of the store in Moroka, Soweto on 17 April 2025 highlights Sehoana’s dedication to serving low-income communities and driving growth in township and rural areas.
EasyPrice Holdings, a supermarket chain specializing in affordable groceries, liquor, and delivery services, aims to meet the needs of underserved markets. The store opening marks a key milestone in the company’s expansion plan, aligning with its “Your Real Friend” campaign, which promises to offer value for money and high-quality products to local communities. Sehoana’s leadership is set to steer the chain toward greater accessibility and reliability for consumers.
Sehoana’s entrepreneurial journey began in his hometown of Ivory Park, Gauteng, where he launched his first footwear business at 15. By 2019, he had achieved millionaire status with Drip Footwear, which became a cultural icon in South Africa. However, his career faced challenges, including the liquidation of Drip Footwear in 2024 due to financial setbacks. Despite these obstacles, Sehoana rebounded quickly, launching a new sneaker brand, Drip Sportif, in February 2025 in collaboration with TAPE stores.
Now, as CEO of EasyPrice Holdings, Sehoana is focused on retail growth, particularly in townships. He sees the Moroka Store as the first of many steps toward making the company a true community partner. “EasyPrice is about being a real friend to our communities,” he said, reinforcing the company’s promise to provide affordable essentials for its customers.
