Media Statement EASTERN CAPE – Du Wayne Stoltz (39), a law firm director of Michael Randell Attorneys appeared before the Gqeberha New Law court on 28 November 2024 facing allegations for fraud. Stoltz was arrested by the Gqeberha Hawk’s Serious Commercial Crime Investigation on the same day of his court appearance, where he was released on R2000 bail. During period between June 2021 and June 2022, it is alleged that the accused assisted his client in particular legal assistance. Subsequently, his client successfully received a compensation from former employer, but cash was reportedly deposited to the law firm’s bank account. Consequently, the accused allegedly unlawful and intentional accessed the firm’s account and utilised the client’s money for his personal benefit. The case docket was opened and handed over to the Hawks for investigation. The investigations by the Hawks confirmed the allegations and it was established that the accused utilised funds without the client’s authority or permission. Further investigations revealed that the client was prejudiced cash to more than R280 000, that culminated to his arrest on 28 November 2024 where he appeared in court and released on R2000 bail. The case was remanded to 12 December 2024 for legal representation. Ends
