Media Statement CAPE TOWN – The vigilance of our members, whilst conducting patrols On Saturday, 22 February 2025, in the policing precinct of Kleinvlei, led to the detention of two males found to be in possession of rifles and ammunition without a valid licence. The police members were busy with patrols when they noticed two suspicious males in Strawberry Road, Blue Downs at about 23:00. The members stopped the patrol vehicle and searched the males, and confiscated a small amount of ammunition found to be in their possession. They followed their suspicion and conducted an intense search in close proximity where they found the suspects, which resulted in the recovery of six rifles hidden in a bag. Police have detained the males, aged 24 and 36, for the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. Once charged the suspects are expected to make their court appearance in the Blue Downs Magistrates’ Court on the mentioned charge. Ends
