A tragic incident has shaken Kenya after a police officer stationed at one of the gates of the presidential residence in Nairobi was fatally shot with an arrow.
According to authorities, the attack occurred on Monday morning when a 56-year-old man armed with a bow and arrows approached the entrance of State House. Officers ordered him to surrender, but instead, he fired an arrow that struck Police Constable Ramadhan Matanka in the ribs.

The injured officer was rushed to the hospital but sadly died during treatment. His body has been moved to a mortuary, and a post-mortem examination will be conducted.
The attacker, who allegedly disguised himself as a homeless man carrying a sack that concealed his weapons, was arrested shortly after the assault. He was later seen in a police vehicle with visible injuries and is expected to appear in court.
The incident has raised concerns about security lapses at one of the most protected government facilities in Kenya. Police have launched a full investigation to determine the motive behind the attack.
Police spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga condemned the killing, calling it a “heinous act,” and praised the swift response of the officers who prevented further harm. He also expressed condolences to Constable Matanka’s family, saying the fallen officer had “paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.”
