Kelly Khumalo has set tongues wagging by teasing her latest liaison to music mogul and longtime industry pal Arthur Mafokate.
Although fans are not convinced their relationship is romantic, Arthur is one of many men linked to
Kelly is known for her dramatic dating history, particularly her high-profile break-ups.
Sadly, many social media users have claimed that the South African singer “curses” every man she sets her eyes upon.
ARE KELLY KHUMALO AND ARTHUR MAFOKATE REALLY DATING?
On 14 February, Valentine’s Day, Kelly Khumalo posted a picture of herself looking lovingly into Arthur Mafokate’s eyes. On his own Instagram account, Arthur posted his own picture of himself embracing the mother of three. He added two heart emojis in the caption of the post.
Although the duo did their best to convince the public that their relationship was romantic, many followers think that the posts are just a marketing gimmick for an upcoming musical collaboration.
It wouldn’t be the first time Kelly and Arthur have pulled this stunt. In 2014, the musicians released the love song Nguye Lo.
And like they’ve done again, the stars teased rumours of a romance after they got “married” in a music video for the single.
DATING HISTORY
While Arthur Mafokate may be just a PR stunt, Kelly Khumalo does have a dramatic dating history. Here’s a look…
Prosper Mkwaiwa
After bursting on the music scene in 2003, Kelly began dating music promoter Prosper Mkwaiwa, who proposed to her on the dating show All You Need Is Love.
However, the couple split shortly after he confessed to having an affair.
Prosper – who had two failed marriages after Kelly – was involved in a near-fatal car crash in 2014, which left him bedridden for months. A year later, he died en route to the hospital after complaining about a high fever, reported TimesLive.
His cause of death has never been made public.
Jub Jub
In 2010, Kelly Khumalo began dating muso Jub Jub. According to the singer, the relationship was fraught with drugs and allegations of abuse.
Later that year, Kelly gave birth to their child Christian, while Jub Jub was awaiting sentencing for his car crash earlier that year that killed four schoolchildren in Protea North, Johannesburg.
After he was released in 2017, Jub Jub claims Kelly forbade him from seeing his son. She has vehemently denied these claims.
Senzo Meyiwa
Shortly after Senzo married Mandisa Mkhize in 2013, the Orlando Pirates goalkeeper began seeing Kelly.
The singer gave birth to her second child – daughter Thingo – with Senzo in mid-2014. A few months later, he was shot and killed by “hired hitmen” while visiting the Vosloorus home of Kelly’s mom.
The murder investigation – filled with allegations of foul play – continues a decade later.
Zamokwakhe “Bhaka” Nzama
In 2016, Kelly Khumalo was linked to married traditional healer Bhaka. According to the Citizen, Bhaka claims Kelly assaulted him after she demanded he leave his wife for her.
In the end, the short-lived affair came to a halt.
He said: “I’m grateful to my beautiful wife for being brave while I was doing all these things. She remained strong and refused to give up on our relationship”.
Chad da Don
Kelly Khumalo briefly dated – and became engaged – to Chad Da Don in 2018 following a whirlwind romance.
This after he made a saucy feature in her Dance Comigo music video.
Speaking to MacG on Podcast and Chill in October 2020, she said of the rapper: “He was insecure about friends – I have a lot of gay friends – and insecure about my fans. My fans are my life. I am where I am because they support my music, they support my brand, and they support my performances.
She continued, “I had to downplay who I am. I am not that desperate.”
ANOTHER SOCCER PLAYER?
According to Zimoja, Kelly Khumalo began dating former Kaizer Chiefs player Mthokozisi Yende in late 2022.
The publication claims they welcomed their child together – a baby girl named Luna – a few months later.
The secretive couple have reportedly called it quits, and Kelly is believed to be back on the market.
